Mindful-eating

Version 1.2 - One Question at a Time

Version 1.2 is a small release with a slightly odd result: the meal flow has more steps than before, and it feels simpler.

One question per screen

Until now, starting a meal put everything on one screen - hunger, body sensations, intention, photo - and asked you to fill it in like a form. It worked, but it looked like work, and I caught myself skimming it. Skimming is the opposite of what the pre-meal pause is for.

So each question now gets its own screen and its own moment:

More taps, yes. But one question at a time turns out to be faster, because there is nothing else on the screen to parse. You answer, you move on. And, more to the point, you actually read the question.

Snacks and drinks are visible now

Quick snack and drink logs used to be recorded and then disappear - in the history, but nowhere on the home screen. Now the morning coffee, the afternoon biscuit and the “just one crisp” moment all show up in Today’s Meals, alongside the proper meals.

This matters more than it sounds. Half of my eating isn’t meals. It is the stuff in between, and if I can’t see it, I can’t notice any pattern in it. A day now looks like an actual day: breakfast, coffee, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, a glass of wine. Not just the three sit-down events.

That’s the update

Two changes: a roomier meal flow, and snacks and drinks out in the open. Both belong to the category of “obviously it should have always been like that”, which is usually the sign of a good change.

See you in 1.3.
