Working notes on the two contemplative traditions that Prosoche draws from - Buddhist mindfulness (sati) and Stoic attention (prosoche). These traditions developed what appears to be the same core practice independently, though the historical connections between them run deeper than most people realize. The foundation is Satipatthana (the four establishments of mindfulness), which provides the framework that runs through all four Prosoche apps. The Stoic exercises - particularly Hadot’s recovery of prosoche as the master spiritual exercise - provide the other half of the intellectual backbone.
Not a comprehensive guide. Just the concepts I keep returning to and finding useful.
